I have cultivated expertise in two distinct disciplines of piano music: advanced improvisational techniques and atonal-harmonic composition.
These two disciplines, while distinct, complement each other by broadening my expressive capabilities and deepening my understanding of musical possibilities. Through the integration of advanced improvisation and atonal-harmonic principles, I strive to contribute to the evolution of piano music, pushing the limits of what can be achieved within this art form.
I have reserved a front-row seat for you on the shores of my creative voyages. Take your place, relax, and immerse yourself in the unfolding journey of musical exploration.
My improvisational approach is guided by a unique personal collection of scales that I designed in search of key harmonic qualities. This repertoire enables a fluid and expressive execution that transcends conventional methods, allowing for intricate and spontaneous musical creations. The scales I employ are meticulously curated to enhance the versatility and depth of my improvisations, providing a rich foundation for exploring diverse musical landscapes distinct from the flavors of classical inventions.
My atonal-harmonic compositions are constructed using a proprietary musical system that operates on principles entirely foreign to traditional classical music. This system eschews conventional tonal structures in favor of innovative harmonic frameworks, resulting in music that is both cohesive and aesthetically pleasing despite its departure from classical norms. The compositions are marked by their orderliness and structural integrity, demonstrating a novel approach to harmony that challenges and expands the boundaries of contemporary music theory.
Another one of my favorite scales, this one comes from my custom scale collection I put together using harmonic systems.
I have roughly 1000 scales I peruse, this one has great balance even though it is an 8 note scale, instead of a 7 note scale.
Another Atonal show piece.
Atonal music represents a profound enigma within the realm of classical music, embodying a level of mystery and complexity that eludes many composers. While experienced composers possess the technical capability to create atonal pieces, the nature of atonal music inherently disrupts the harmonious order and structure that characterizes beautiful music. This disruption often results in a perception of disjointed harmonic dynamics rather than an experience of the sublime. Consequently, atonal music is largely inaccessible to both composers and listeners, as it tends to sharply veer into realms of emotional and expressive ambiguity.
My atonal compositions reveal a unique cohesion, pointedness, and beauty that challenges conventional musical composition and its modes of design. This phenomenon reveals an underlying framework governing the harmonic construction of my atonal works that is distinct from the common.
Between 2012 and 2018, I engaged in an extensive study of world music, exploring various cultures and delving into literature that sought to define the essence of music. My dissatisfaction with classical tonal systems, which I perceived as fundamentally flawed by design, propelled me on a solitary journey to uncover the deeper mysteries of harmonics.
This work exemplifies the potential of atonal music to achieve aesthetic beauty and structural coherence independent of conventional tonal paradigms. Enjoy this exploration of a distinct musical science, where beauty and order emerge from an unconventional harmonic language.
One of my favorite scales, originating from Jewish musical traditions, adeptly blends major and minor tones characteristic of classical scales. This scale provides major tones in the lower keys and minor tones in the upper keys, creating a rich and nuanced harmonic palette.
This piece is an improvisation on the piano, originally recorded live. After capturing the spontaneity and expressiveness of the piano performance, I composed complementary arrangements for cello and violin, further enriching the musical texture. This approach highlights the versatility and depth of the scale, demonstrating its capacity to bridge traditional tonalities in innovative ways.
This is my first classical composition of 2024.
In this song I am utilizing my improvisational techniques, and going for something with a touch of playful, and a touch of serious with some rhythmic drama between the piano and cello.
I always enjoy improvised pieces, because I am often surprised by what unfolds.
Exploring harmonic relationships across the chromatic scale. My atonal approach to music is highly structured and calculated and takes in to account various harmonic developments, as such most of my atonal pieces sound like they are rooted in a scale, even as they glide through all the classical boundaries.
One of my favorite songs from the Album: The Life of God in Me.
A Wedding in Galilee was designed using middle eastern scales and instruments, the purpose of this piece was to imagine the frenzy of excitement and celebration at the wedding feast where Jesus turns water into wine!
My goal was to make the music sound like it was on the edge of going completely out of control. Many of the instruments and pieces were recorded with live programming to maintain an organic expression within the music.
